About these photographs
Read this before you look
Every picture below was taken on an ordinary evening, with the permission of the people in it. None was staged for the purpose, and none has been altered beyond a little brightening so that the corners of the dining room can be seen. If you recognise a face, tell them.
We have arranged the pictures in the order a visitor meets the house: the verandah and the front steps, the dining room under its ceiling fans, the kitchen and the sponge, the tea counter, and finally the front room with its green-shaded lamps and polished floor. A photograph cannot show the quiet of that room, though it can show the care. It cannot show the smell of the sponge at five o'clock, or the hum of the fans, or the sound of a ball settling into a pocket, but we have done what we can.
If there is a corner of the house you would like to see before booking, mention it to Alana Curtis at the desk. A folder of prints lives beside the reservations book, and she will happily turn the pages with you, whether or not you have a table for the evening.
Anyone who appears here may have their picture withdrawn whenever they like. A line to the address on the contact page is enough, and it will be gone within a day with no questions asked.
