Reservations

Book ahead and let us keep a table for you

Supper and a seat in the front room are booked separately, and either one or both may be reserved. Read how it works, then fill in the form below.

How it works

Follow the steps from request to table

  1. Choose what you need

A table for supper is held in the dining room at any time between five and half past eight. A seat among the card tables is a place in the front room for the evening, which opens at seven. Many guests book both.

  2. Send your request

Use the form below, ring the front desk or ask at the door. Please include the date, the time, the number of guests and any allergies or occasions. Alana Curtis answers all requests personally.

  3. Await confirmation

Alana will confirm by e-mail within a day, naming the evening, the time and the table. If the time you have suggested is unavailable she will offer two alternatives, which you may accept or decline.

  4. Arrive and give your name

Tables are held for fifteen minutes past the hour. When you arrive, give your name to the host at the door, and she will show you to your table and tell the kitchen that you are here.

  5. Change or cancel freely

Plans change, and there is no charge for altering a booking. Ring or write at any time, and the table will be offered to the next name on the waiting list. A call is all we ask.

  6. Walk in if you prefer

Guests without a booking are always welcome when there is room. Thursday and Sunday are the easiest evenings; Friday and Saturday fill early, and the list for the front room can close by seven.

Booking questions

Check what guests ask when they book

How far ahead should I book?
Thursday and Sunday are usually fine on the day. Friday and Saturday fill a week ahead, and a group of eight or more should book several days before so that the kitchen can plan the supper.
Can I book only a seat in the front room?
Yes. You may book a seat for the evening without dining, and the host will hold it until half past nine. Many guests dine first at their own pace and walk through when the front room opens at seven.
Is there a charge for booking?
No. Reservations are free, and so is the front room. The only cost is for the food and tea you order, which is settled at the table when you have finished.
Are bookings confirmed immediately?
Not by the form. The form sends a request to Alana Curtis, who confirms by e-mail within a day. If you need an answer sooner, ring the front desk after midday and she will tell you at once.
What if I am late?
Ring to say so, and the table will be held for a little longer. After fifteen minutes the table is passed to the waiting list, but the host will find you another as soon as you arrive.

Your request

Reserve a table or a seat

Complete as much of the form as you can. A reservation is a request until it has been confirmed by e-mail, and we shall be in touch if there is any difficulty with the time you have chosen.
