Terms

Terms for guests

These terms govern the use of this website and set out what to expect when you visit the house. They are brief, and they are meant to be read.

The terms

What applies to the site and the house

Subject of these terms

These terms apply to the website of Brigalow Pavilion and to your visit to the house on Kariboe Street. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the booking and contact forms, and ring the front desk if you would like to make a reservation another way.

Age limit

The website and the front room are meant for adults of eighteen and over, and using the site tells us you are one. Proof of age is asked for at the door; a guest who cannot show it stays out of the front room but remains welcome to eat in the dining room.

Rules of the visit

Please follow the House code published on this website and be civil to the staff and to everyone else in the building. If a guest spoils the evening for others, the floor manager may ask them to go home, and they may come back another night once things have been talked through.

Bookings

A reservation sent through the website is only a request until the host confirms it by e-mail. A dining table is kept for a quarter of an hour after the time given. You may alter or cancel a booking at no charge, by telephone or in writing, right up to the evening itself.

Chips have no value

The chips used for every game described on this site carry no money value at all. Nobody may buy them, sell them or swap them for anything, and the evening has no entry fees, no wagers and no prizes. Whoever wins a tournament is written on the board, and that is the whole of it.

Offline only

None of the games we describe is available on the internet. This site hosts no game, no app and no distant table, and its forms have a single use: arranging a table or a seat inside the building on Kariboe Street.

Liability

We try to keep the hours, the menu and the program on this site correct, though any of them can change at short notice, and the site comes as it is. As far as the law permits, we accept no liability for a loss that follows from relying on it. Your rights under consumer law are untouched by anything on this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Australian law. A dispute that cannot be settled by talking would go to the courts of Queensland. Should you have a complaint, write to the address in the footer first; Gillian Novak reads every one and answers it herself, usually within a few working days.

Changes to the terms

We may amend these terms from time to time, for example when we alter how reservations are taken. The version on the website is always the current one, and a significant change will be announced at the door before it takes effect.

In brief

The terms in six lines

Only guests of eighteen and over may enter the front room, and proof of age may be requested.

Chips are lent for the evening, have no value and cannot be exchanged for anything.

No money is wagered, no entry fee is charged and no prize is given at any table.

Nothing is available online; every game takes place at the house, in person.

Reservations are requests until confirmed, and can be changed or cancelled freely.

Australian law governs these terms, and disputes are heard in the courts of Queensland.
