Data we hold

Very little, for a short time, and only for the purpose you gave it. This page lists exactly what we keep, why, with whom it is shared and how to have it removed.

The details

What is collected and what becomes of it

Data in the forms

The booking form asks for your name, e-mail address, the evening and time you prefer, the number in your party and, if you wish, a note about allergies or an occasion. The contact form asks for your name, e-mail address and message. Nothing else is requested, and neither form accepts payment details of any kind.

Purposes

The details are used to confirm a table or a seat, to prepare the kitchen for allergies you have mentioned, to reply to a message and to reach you if the arrangements change. They are not used for advertising, for profiling, or for any purpose unconnected with the request you made.

Basis for using the details

You choose to send a form, and the consent box you tick tells us that you are content for the details to be used in the ways described here. Without that consent we cannot act on a request, and you may withdraw it at any moment by writing to the address in the footer.

How long details are kept

Booking details are kept for the evening in question and for a short while afterwards, in case a guest has left something behind or a question arises. Messages are kept until they have been answered. After that the entry is deleted from the reservations book and the inbox, normally within a few weeks.

Who receives the details

Your details are seen by the host, the floor manager and, where allergies are involved, the head chef. They are not sold, rented or passed to advertisers. The only outside parties are the e-mail and hosting providers that carry our messages, and they are bound to treat what they carry as private.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask to have it corrected or ask to have it deleted. Write to the address in the footer or ring the front desk, and we shall respond within a reasonable time and without charge. If you remain unhappy with our reply, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which looks after the Australian Privacy Principles, will hear a complaint.

Cookies and browser storage

Your browser keeps two tiny notes from this site: your age confirmation and your cookie choice. Both are listed with their names on the page called What cookies do here, and neither one holds your name or a word of your booking.

Younger visitors

This website is written for adults. We do not set out to gather information about anyone under eighteen, and a parent who finds that a child has sent a form is asked to tell us so that we can delete it straight away.

Our undertakings

What the house will not do with your details

We shall not pass your details to any company that wants to sell you something.

We shall not send you messages other than those that concern the request you made.

We shall not keep an allergy note for longer than the booking to which it belongs.

We shall not ask for card numbers or any payment details through this website.

We shall not record the tables in the front room by camera or by microphone.

We shall not refuse a request to delete an entry when you have asked us to do so.
